Overview
Teaching and learning in higher education continues to be an area of constant change with staff, students and institutions still developing and evolving their models of higher education as we emerge from the pandemic. Join us at the Advance HE Teaching and Learning Conference 2023 to discuss how we can shape the future of teaching and learning in higher education across the globe and share how you are shaping your teaching, your department, your institution and your future in higher education.
Ongoing debates across the globe focus on teaching excellence, value, the student experience, student engagement and student success and, in some countries including the UK, the topic of fees and the current rise in the cost of living adds to the tensions. Add to this the continuing discussions around flexible modes of deliveryfrom hyflex to in person, online or hybrid. What blend of these should we use? What blend do our students want? Is this changing over time? Is this evolving? Does it vary by discipline, the level of study, regulatory requirements, or student characteristics?
The complexity of the challenge and the recognition that no-one model suits all, means there is no better time to work together, to share practice, learn from our success and our failures to work together to shape the future of teaching in higher education. Whether you are a Small and Specialist provider, a post-92 institution, an independent provider, a Russell Group university, a college-based higher education provider or any other institution offering tertiary education there are common challenges and common learning and #TLConf23 is the place to support this.

A leading provider of survey and evaluation solutions, evasys has more than 60 higher education customers across the UK and Ireland and over 1,000, worldwide.
evasys enables universities and colleges to streamline module evaluation and student surveys, whilst driving up response rates and helping to close the student feedback loop – and, ultimately, contributing to improvements in NSS outcomes, particularly around Student Voice.
Widely integrated with other education technology systems such as virtual learning environments (VLEs) and student portals, evasys provides instant and detailed feedback reports for course and module leaders, as well as extensive insights and management information for academic managers.
Fully supported pilots of evasys are available to allow institutions to easily understand the benefits of a central, digital system that enhances student engagement/retention and facilitates module and course leader engagement.

Future We Want
Future We Want is a UK-based sustainability education consultancy and we focus on people.
Only when the world's people are engaged, informed and inspired about taking climate action will we achieve our sustainable future.
We use games and other novel and fun methods to engage people in learning about climate change, carbon footprinting & sustainability.
We are a small but mighty consultancy with great passion, scientific-underpinning and on a mission to get everyone to learn about our shared climate emergency and what they can do to help.
We are based inside and outside the UK and work with clients as broad as schools to multi-nationals.
In 2021, Director Emma, received a ‘Women in Innovation’ award from Innovate UK to develop a digital version of our successful physical ‘How bad are bananas?’ carbon footprint game.
Solutionpath
Solutionpath was founded in 2013 in response to the changing landscape of UK education. Digitalisation, generation z and a more diverse student population were not only shifting the nature of learning delivery but also the potential for progression and attainment.
Our Why
Outcomes of The HERE (Higher Education: Retention & Engagement) project, 2008 – 2011 highlighted concerns in how student demographics were not only changing but influencing progression. Raising the importance of supporting students in the transition to becoming effective learners and showing why encouraging students to engage and creating a sense of belonging really matter.
This would fuel our mission to develop products to help every student to realise their full potential and inform their institutions in how to deliver great individualised learning that we still stand by today.
Codifying Engagement
In 2014 a co-curated innovation project with Nottingham Trent University was formed. Recognising that the common element to ensure successful integration into university life was ‘engagement’ we set off on a journey to develop technology that would codify engagement proxies by turning educationally purposeful events into an easy to interpret, non-bias engagement score.
Innovation
Our product StREAM (Student Retention Engagement Attainment Monitoring) was successfully tested and piloted and consistently proved its predictive capability in not only identifying outliers but also those at risk of early withdrawal because of personal or wellbeing reasons. The initiative won a Times Higher Education (THE) award and was the first of its kind in the UK.
Making an Impact
Fast forward and today we work with 20 UK higher education institutions and support several strategic agendas from institutional excellence, digital transformation, progression, attainment and wellbeing. We continue to work in collaboration with the education community to meet the dynamic needs of today and to prepare for the future, ensuring students and staff are empowered to be better and do better.
