Professor Simon Kemp is an expert in education for sustainable development (ESD) and he was named Most Innovative Teacher of the Year at the 2013 Times Higher Education Awards. ESD is an inter-disciplinary approach to learning that covers the integrated social economic and environmental dimensions of the formal and informal curriculum. Our ESD starter tool is a useful way of learning more about the origins of this topic.
In this toolkit Simon provides a series of lesson plans to help you introduce ESD into any programme including outlining the intended learning outcomes of each session. In a world where businesses and organisations expect their employees to be aware of the impact and importance of sustainable development these tools provide important guidance and support on how to successfully integrate sustainable development into your teaching practice. Each tool tackles ESD from a different angle including discpline specific.
