Sarah re-joined Advance HE in 2020 to support the development and delivery of the Athena Swan charter in Ireland. She has expertise in supporting sector-wide and institutional progress on gender equality.
As Head of Athena Swan Ireland, she oversees the engagement and participation of all of Ireland’s universities, technological universities, institutes of technology, as well as several colleges and research institutes, in the charter framework. Sarah has responsibility for the associated peer-review assessment processes and continuing development of charter to meet the needs of higher education and research in Ireland. As Athena Swan is part of a national strategy to progress gender equality, she works closely with government and sector agencies, research funders and institutional bodies on charter implementation and progress.
Sarah has previously worked in higher education, research and government in Ireland, the UK and the USA.
