Institutions, large and small, are today having to be strategically responsive to a multitude of external and internal factors, some of which can be forecast whilst others are hard, if not impossible, to predict. Taking an evidence-based approach of ‘what works’ combined with our deep sectoral knowledge and experience, we work in partnership with you to bring about impactful and lasting change with your teaching and learning strategies and policy.
We support you to foster an environment enabling productive, committed teams and individuals to thrive. We support you in the development of a strategic framework which is both stretching and adaptive, and having the mechanisms to realise your strategy.

Our aim is to embed the Advance HE Student Success Framework Series across the University, to support the broader aspects of learning and teaching in a more integrated and innovative manner. It aligns with our own Strategic Framework, which is designed to ensure our students graduate with the skills, knowledge, experience and attributes to enable them to fulfil their ambitions and make a positive contribution to the world.”Professor Malcolm Todd, the University’s Provost (Academic), University of Derby
Support across the full range of strategies
Advance HE’s support can cover sector-wide strategies and policies, institutional teaching and learning strategies, school or faculty strategies or thematic strategies.
Teaching and Learning Strategy and Portfolio Reviews
Advance HE can provide an external perspective on your Teaching and Learning Strategy supporting you to deliver on your own vision and mission. Drawing on deep expertise within learning, teaching and assessment, and knowledge of the wider sector and policy developments, we can provide a critical review of the implementation of your strategy.
Thematic strategies
Working with Advance HE experts and our Student Success Framework Series we can support the development of strategies that focus on specific themes such as employability, access, retention, attainment and progression and assessment and feedback.
Improving student outcomes
As higher education emerges from the pandemic, we are seeing a renewed focus from governments and regulators on good student outcomes using student progression, retention and graduate outcomes as measures of good degrees and value for money.
We can therefore expect institutions to come under further pressure from students, policy makers and funding bodies.
Advance HE is here to help you identify your strengths and weaknesses and to develop strategies to improve your students’ outcomes against key sector benchmarks.
Supporting Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) success
OfS set out their updated proposed timings for the next TEF exercise in July. Guidance and TEF indicators will be published by the end of September 2022 with a submission deadline of mid-January 2023.
To support institutions Advance HE can provide bespoke consultancy and advice helping to help shape an impactful narrative around the individual institution's context. We can also help address challenges and opportunities which are evident within the submission.
We have seen teaching professionals from across disciplines come together to reflect, share practice, and develop into teaching and learning ambassadors with real potential impact on the University.”Dr. Philline Deraney, PhD, SFHEA Program Co-Organizer for the Deanship of Academic Development, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University
