Inclusive Curriculum Workshop

Over two half days, this online workshop will aim to support institutions with their approaches and understandings of inclusive curriculum design, review and enhancement.

This two-part workshop will introduce the latest sector learning, tools, and insights to support participants as they design new and improve existing curricula and teaching pedagogies. ‘Spotlight’ challenges will explore issues such as; mental wellbeing of students; and working within accrediting or professional frameworks. Participants will also have the opportunity to critically apply their learning to a ‘live’ curriculum or materials.

Learning outcomes

On completion, participants should be able to:

  • Understand the wider sector context for inclusive curriculum design, review and enhancement
  • Identify different approaches and interventions being used to enhance or embed inclusion and equity into curricula
  • Explore and understand common challenges in developing or reviewing curriculum with an inclusion and equity lens.
  • Critically reflect on their own curriculum design, delivery or practice.
  • Discuss issues of inclusive curriculum with others with confidence

Content

The blended module involves two half-day online interactive workshops, and c. 1 hour of independent reflection and reading. Indicative content:

  • Setting the scene: sector landscape and identifying ‘live’ issues
  • Inclusive Curriculum design
  • Spotlight topics (eg exploring approaches such as anti-racist curricula, embedding wellbeing, working with professional frameworks)
  • Real World application: structured independent and small group reflection to apply learning to your current work
