As an Early Career Researcher, she is also a Senior Lecturer at the School of Education and retains an active research profile (i.e., PI leading on several interdisciplinary funded projects) at the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Human Development. In terms of leadership, she was elected in 2021 to the University Senate. Melissa completed her PhD in comparative education systems at the Australian National University (Dec 2017), and during this time held a Visiting Fellowship at the Centre for Comparative and International Education, University of Oxford (2015). Melissa’s research takes an interdisciplinary approach to education, social justice and human flourishing. She engages with contemporary theories across these domains looking towards ‘education for social wellbeing’.
