Cathryn has worked in mental health and suicide prevention research for over fifteen years. She is currently working as Programme Manager at the National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Safety in Mental Health (NCISH), based at the University of Manchester, assisting the Project Director with the day-to-day management of a UK-wide research programme into suicide prevention in clinical services. Cathryn completed her PhD in 2023, a study examining suicide in children and young people. Cathryn is the principal investigator for the national review of higher education student suicides and also for a study examining the effects of patient suicide on clinicians.
She has also led UK-wide research projects examining suicide by former personnel of the UK Armed Forces, suicide by children and young people and suicide by middle-aged men. Cathryn has written numerous peer-reviewed publications, most recently on suicide in veterans of the UK Armed Forces and in children and young people.
